You’re invited to enjoy a Coffee in the Garden at the home of Christine Vargas Saturday, June 16, 9:00AM–3:00PM, 1730 Huey Lane, Alpine CA 91901
The garden is a one-acre mix of fruit trees, ornamental trees, drought-tolerant shrubs, salvias, sages, proteas, and, yes, LOTS of cacti and succulents! The home was built in 1997 so it is a well-established garden that is gradually becoming more water-wise. A new addition to the garden is a front yard that formerly was grass (food for the millions of bunnies!). Now it’s succulents and rock! Alpine tends to get extreme heat in summer and extreme cold in winter (sometimes 20°F!) so it has been a challenge to find just the right placement for succulents!
Propagated plants from the garden will be for sale. An added treat for the gathering will be a visit by Mr. Brent Weigand from Wildomar! He is an avid hybridizer of succulents and will be discussing (at 11:00 AM) some of his methods and techniques. He also will bring some of his fabulous plants to sell!
Directions to 1730 Huey Lane, Alpine 91901
► 8 east to Tavern Road exit. Turn right. Drive 1 mile on Tavern Road to Huey Lane. Turn right. ► As you enter Huey Lane, you’ll see a museum and a dirt parking lot on your immediate left. Please park and walk from there to my house. My driveway is very hard to turn around in. Park close to the museum building without blocking the family that lives in that very old red house behind the museum. You may see my golf cart picking up people at the museum and transporting them to my house, so stick out your thumb! ►After turning right on Huey Lane, you’ll see white plastic field fencing on your right which lines a new little side street that has no street sign yet. Turn right there. I’m at the end of the cul-de-sac.
